The Department of Physics is characterise\u00a0by keeping pace with scientific progress and the latest scientific news in the whole world, as it holds many discussions, seminars and conferences that deal with all the latest developments in the broad physical sciences, not to mention the rest of science and other fields of culture to become a rich source of physical sciences and general culture.<\/span><\/h3>\n

Over the years, the Department of Physics has developed a lot in many respects, scientifically, technically and administratively, and it is always in a state of continuous renewal, as graduate studies were opened in 1956 for masters and doctorate until it has become broad-spectrum now and has a solid scientific position and has also expanded in the various fields of physical scientific research until there is no room left even if It was accurate, but the physics department has a long history and a great impact on it.<\/span><\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/h3>\n

The Department of Physics, with all its teaching, aspires to be better and more distinguished scientifically and culturally at the global level to rise to the levels of advanced international universities. Given the progress of physics and its wide spectrum, the department aspires to turn into a College of Physics and Astronomy that includes many of the precise scientific disciplines required for the development of the country and the advancement of the scientific and technological level. And the cultural center towards a bright future, especially since it possesses all the scientific capabilities and human resources necessary to establish a distinguished College of Physics and Astronomy, thus being the first at the level of Iraq, the Arab countries and the Middle East at the level of its counterparts in advanced universities worldwide.<\/span><\/p>\n

As a result of the development in physics and its wide spectrum, since the beginning of graduate studies, research groups have been formed in the department that have developed over time to become as follows:<\/span><\/h6>\n

    5. Nuclear and Environmental Physics.<\/span><\/li>\n
    6. Material Physics.<\/span><\/li>\n

      The department pays special attention to pure and applied scientific studies to qualify students theoretically and practically and enable them to continue their higher studies on the one hand and to play a distinguished role in research, development and work in scientific and industrial institutions related to physics.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

      The objectives of the Department of Physics are divided into three objectives and can be listed as follows:<\/span><\/div>\n
      First) To prepare graduates who are able to comprehend the principles of physics in fields known worldwide, as illustrated by the distribution of courses for the four university years.\u00a0The work is focused on the theoretical and practical aspects to prepare the graduate to work in the following areas:<\/span><\/div>\n

        • Laboratories of the Ministry of Industry.<\/span><\/li>\n
        • Ministry of Health laboratories.<\/span><\/li>\n
        • Technical formations in the Ministries of Interior and Defense.<\/span><\/li>\n
        • Technical facilities at the Ministry of Communications and the Ministry of Communications.<\/span><\/li>\n
        • Laboratories and facilities of the Ministry of Oil.<\/span><\/li>\n
        • Standardization and quality control laboratories.<\/span><\/li>\n
        • Technical installations of the Ministry of Housing and Construction.<\/span><\/li>\n
        • Ministry of Electricity facilities.<\/span><\/li>\n
        • Laboratories and facilities of the Ministry of Environment.<\/span><\/li>\n
        • Laboratories of the Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources.<\/span><\/li>\n
        • Research centers of the Ministry of Science and Technology.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n
          In addition to preparing them as teachers in training centers (Ministry of Education and Ministry of Higher Education).\u00a0This is done through intensive courses in various sciences for a period of four years accompanied by practical preparation through a number of laboratories equipped with advanced equipment and devices for the purpose of preparing the graduate for the above duties.<\/span><\/div>\n
          Second) Preparing advanced scientific cadres in the fields of physics by selecting an elite group of graduates for postgraduate studies, reinforced by advanced theoretical courses of a high level and close to the level of European and American universities. Global in terms of publication and sobriety of scientific material.<\/span><\/div>\n
          Third) Preparing graduates to manage scientific institutions by training them within large scientific work teams on how to distribute scientific works, set their timetables, follow-up mechanism, and prepare supplies.<\/span><\/div>\n
          Fourth) Spreading the scientific culture of physics specialization through conferences and symposia that focus on gathering specialists from all departments and scientific institutions for the purpose of publishing their research, presenting work problems and discussing to solve them.<\/span><\/div>\n
          Academic majors and certificates awarded:<\/span><\/div>\n
          \u00a0The department grants graduates of preliminary studies a certificate (Bachelor of Science in Physics).\u00a0As for postgraduate graduates, the department grants two degrees (Master\u2019s and Doctorate of Philosophy) in specializations (thin films), (electro-optics), (laser and molecular), (plasma), (nuclear), (materials), (remote sensing).<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
