<\/div>[\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]This unit is affiliated with the Dean’s Office for Scientific Affairs and Graduate Studies at the College of Science. It is one of the first units established in the colleges of the University of Baghdad to teach human rights and democracy after 2003.
\nUnit’s Functions
\nThe unit is responsible for several tasks, the most important of which are:
\n1- Teaching the prescribed courses, which are:
\na- Human Rights and Democracy for first-year students over one semester, according to the Bologna Process
\nb- The Crimes of the Ba’ath Regime in Iraq for second-year students over one semester, according to the Bologna Process.<\/p>\n

2- Organizing activities related to disseminating a culture of human rights and democratic principles.<\/p>\n

3- Commemorating national and international occasions related to human rights and celebrating national achievements.<\/p>\n

4- Monitoring the implementation of human rights and reducing violations within the college.<\/p>\n

The unit has a mission, vision, and objectives, which are as follows:
\nFirst: Objectives:
\n1- To empower members of the university community to demand and obtain their rights, promote a culture of human rights, and contribute to building a robust civil society. 2. Ensuring sustainable development for all, without exception, and linking it to fundamental rights such as the right to work, education, and food.<\/p>\n

3. Promoting peace and community security through the close link between human rights and conflict prevention, making addressing conflicts essential for achieving lasting peace and security.<\/p>\n

4. Working towards a university community based on justice, equality, and equal opportunities, and reducing inequality within the university environment.<\/p>\n

5. Ensuring that all departments within the college fulfill their responsibilities in the field of human rights.<\/p>\n

6. Raising awareness and promoting education on human rights and encouraging positive practices in this area.<\/p>\n

Second: Vision<\/p>\n

This vision includes promoting a culture of respect for others, community participation, and social justice, while guaranteeing civil, political, economic, social, cultural, and educational rights for all without discrimination. It also includes the belief that all human beings are equal in dignity and rights, and that these rights must be protected to ensure a more just, peaceful, and sustainable future.<\/p>\n

Third: Mission<\/p>\n

The Human Rights Unit plays a role in protecting human rights and preserving human dignity, mobilizing community efforts around understanding and exercising rights and responsibilities, and implementing the values \u200b\u200bof social justice, tolerance, and promoting equality and non-discrimination.<\/p>\n
