From the Classrooms of Baghdad to the Complex Problems of the World\u2014mathematics is more than a collection of equations and abstract rules; it is a powerful intellectual framework for understanding complex systems, interpreting evidence and making informed decisions. From modelling disease transmission and optimising urban transportation to analysing economic trends and advancing artificial intelligence, mathematical reasoning transforms real-world challenges into structured, testable problems. Yet mathematics education still faces significant barriers, including mathematics anxiety, low self-confidence and teaching practices that overemphasise memorisation at the expense of conceptual understanding and practical application. The OECD\u2019s mathematical literacy framework emphasises three interconnected processes: formulating real-world problems mathematically, employing mathematical methods, and interpreting results within their original contexts. Research on active learning also demonstrates improvements in undergraduate STEM performance compared with conventional lecture-based instruction. Integrating mathematical modelling, collaborative problem-solving, data analysis and context-based learning can help students connect theory to practical challenges. By connecting numbers, reasoning, and real-life decisions, mathematics becomes not merely a subject to be studied but a scientific language for innovation, critical thinking, and responsible problem-solving.\u00a0https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/feed\/<\/a><\/h4>\n
