{"id":5786,"date":"2024-01-28T15:45:08","date_gmt":"2024-01-28T12:45:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.sc.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=5786"},"modified":"2024-01-28T15:45:08","modified_gmt":"2024-01-28T12:45:08","slug":"the-color-of-the-human-eye","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.sc.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=5786","title":{"rendered":"The Color of the Human Eye"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><!--more--><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\">The Department of Biotechnology, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, University of Baghdad, organized a lecture titled &#8220;The Color of the Human Eye.&#8221; The lecture shed light on the color of the human eye, which is influenced by several genes, primarily attributed to adjacent genes on chromosome 15, namely the (HERC2) and (OCA2) genes. The lecture aimed to identify the variation in single nucleotide polymorphisms, specifically rs1800407 G&gt;A in the OCA2 gene and rs12913832 A&gt;G in the HERC2 gene, and their association as DNA markers. Assistant Professor Tabark Munther presented the lecture and discussed the study results on the genetic structure of rs12913832, which showed significant differences (p &lt;0.05) in the group with green eye color.in addition to what the statistical analysis of the haplotype in linkage disequilibrium (LD) showed strongly between the rs12913832 gene.
