The Department of Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, University of Baghdad, organized a lecture entitled “Sustainable Development in Construction Industry” under the patronage of Dean of the College Assistant Professor Dr. Raed Faleh Hassan.<\/h3>\n
The lecture presented by Lecturer Huda Joud Abdul-Wadood aimed to introduce sustainable construction, focusing on the construction sector, which is one of the largest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions. This sector is responsible for significant carbon emissions due to waste. The lecture emphasized adopting sustainable practices, such as using recycled materials, renewable energy, and green building technologies. These technologies not only involve using eco-friendly materials but also aim to reduce waste and enhance construction efficiency.<\/h3>\n
The lecture included an overview of the importance of sustainable construction, also known as green building, by adhering to environmentally responsible practices and resource efficiency throughout the building’s life cycle, from design and construction to operation, renovation, or demolition. This involves using less energy, water, and materials compared to traditional construction practices and minimizing waste generation.
