The Department of Life Sciences, in cooperation with the Development and Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, University of Baghdad, organized a workshop entitled “Pollution in Canned Food”<\/strong> under the auspices of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Raed Falih Hassan,<\/strong> and attended several postgraduate students, academics and those interested in nutrition and health sciences.<\/h3>\n
The purpose of the workshop was<\/strong> to identify canned food, its types, the types of preservatives used, the types of microbial damage that affects canning, methods of avoidance, consumer education, and awareness raising on how to choose canned food and use it for human consumption. Also, highlights the risks of contamination of heavy metals in canned food, which is one of the risks faced by the consumer.<\/h3>\n
The lecture presented<\/strong> by Dr. Mayad Khazal Hassan and Associate Professor Dr. Rasha Karim<\/strong> highlighted the contamination of canned food which poses a significant risk to human health, It occurs as a result of the presence of microbial contaminants such as bacteria, fungi or chemical contaminants such as heavy metals and industrial additives as well as the use of industrial food colours may have negative effects on health if the permissible limits are exceeded, emphasizing the need to adhere to quality and hygiene standards in food manufacturing.<\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Department of Life Sciences, in cooperation with the Development and Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, University","protected":false},"author":82,"featured_media":9555,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_lmt_disableupdate":"","_lmt_disable":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[39,48],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-9554","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-biology-news","category-college-news"],"yoast_head":"\nA workshop about The Contamination of Canned Food and Its Impact on Human Health -
