The President of the University of Baghdad inaugurates a geological testing laboratory at the College of Science and calls for the establishment of a permanent exhibition
The President of the University of Baghdad, Professor Muneer Hamid Al-Saadi, accompanied by the Dean of the college of science, Assistant Professor Raed Falih Hassan, inaugurated the geological testing laboratory in the department of geology, with the presence of the director of the quality assurance and university performance division, Assistant Professor Omar Falih Hassan
The head of the department of geology, Professor Salam Marhoun, highlighted the importance of the laboratory operated using thin-section slides to conduct geological tests, including soil type, sedimentary characteristics of fossils, rocks, minerals, geochemistry, and layers, providing scientific interpretations for educational purposes.
The president of the university of Baghdad commended the efforts of the college Dean and the department of geology for their diligent work in developing and rehabilitating the laboratory to provide scientific services, including conducting geological, geological engineering, and geophysical tests, as well as preparing geological reports for examined samples. He called for the opening of a permanent exhibition to showcase various types of rocks, soil analyses, types, and formations. This exhibition is holding a particular significance because of being the only one within the university of Baghdad.
