The Department of Geology, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, University of Baghdad, held a panel discussion entitled “Writing Scientific Research and Its Results.” The panel discussion aimed to educate faculty members and postgraduate students on the importance of academic writing for research in international and local journals, to raise their academic awareness and ability to write and publish research in specialized international journals according to the details of the research paper’s content and its parts, and how to link these parts according to the globally adopted system and the style of scientific writing. The panel discussion presented by Dr. Mohammed Hassan Nasser included focusing on the methodology of scientific research by emphasizing the essential elements in research writing, starting from the title, abstract, introduction, materials, methods, tables, charts, results, and the list of references used and their quality, and the language used, which should be scientific, precise, simple, and clear, pointing to the steps that prepare the researcher for distinctive writing, increasing the chances of research acceptance for publication in international journals, and preparing the article according to the chosen journal.
