The Department of Chemistry, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, University of Baghdad, organized a workshop titled “Drug Chemistry.” The workshop is patronage by the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Raad Falah Hassan. The workshop presented by Dr. Alaa Abdul Zahra aimed to provide educational, awareness-raising, and scientific material on various types of drugs. It focused on understanding their chemical compositions, methods of usage, prevention, and treatment, as well as their harmful effects and drawbacks. This was achieved through an overview of three types: botanical, chemical, and digital. The workshop highlighted drugs by categorizing and including them among substances prohibited for cultivation, production, consumption, and extraction of many materials. It was noted that there are several medications used for medical purposes that produce similar effects, necessitating their use in various medical procedures.
