The Remote Sensing Unit, in collaboration with the Continuous Education Unit at the College of Science, University of Baghdad, organized a workshop titled “Global Differential Positioning System (DGPS) and Its Applications” under the patronage of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Raad Falah Hasan. The workshop, presented by Professor Dr. Falah Hassan Mahmoud, Assistant Professor Dr. Alaa Saud Mahdi, Assistant Professor Dr. Huda Mohammed Hanaa, and Engineer Reem Ibrahim Mustafa, aimed to familiarize participants with the importance of the Global Differential Positioning System (DGPS) and its applications. This includes its significance in remote sensing, geographic information systems, and all surveying activities. The speakers highlighted the crucial role of DGPS in accomplishing tasks with utmost precision, excellence, and efficiency. The workshop included an introduction to the Global Differential Positioning System (DGPS) and its applications in the field of remote sensing and geographic information systems. The presenters highlighted the significance of this device and the benefits it brings, whether for military use, continuous and precise location monitoring, or peaceful applications serving the community. They emphasized how this reflects on advancements, speed, and accuracy in location determination and related activities, such as efficiently guiding emergency vehicles to specific locations via the shortest and fastest routes with high precision.
