The Department of Biology, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, University of Baghdad, organized a lecture entitled “Hypothyroidism”.
The lecture presented by Dr. Dina Khudair Hassan aimed to define the thyroid gland and its responsibility for the metabolism (metabolism) in the body along with the hypothalamus and pituitary food, as acting by hormones secreted and they need iodine element in water and food.
The lecture included explaining the reasons for the treatment of hypothyroidism and its symptoms, stressing the need to diagnose and treat thyroid inactivity to avoid multiple complications, especially in children and pregnant women. The lecture recommended the need to increase awareness about the diagnosis and treatment of thyroid inactivity, especially in children and pregnant women. as well as increasing the centers of thyroid examination and treatment and intensifying the discussion and educational seminars on this disease.
