A Scientific Lecture about Dams in Aquifers with Expanded
The Remote Sensing Unit, in cooperation with the Development and Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, University of Baghdad, held a lecture entitled “Using Remote Sensitization Techniques to Locate Dams in Aquifers” under the patronage of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Raed Faleh Hassan, and attended several specialists in Dam engineering and remote sensitivity.
The purpose of the lecture was to introduce a technology that relies on the collection and analysis of data from the Earth, using tools such as satellites and drones, allowing for widespread and effective monitoring of the environment. These technologies are used to evaluate the properties of aquifers, such as terrain, soil, water quality, and distribution, to choose the ideal sites for building Dams.
The Lecture presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Leith Aziz Jawad highlights sensitization techniques that help make thoughtful decisions about dam sites, Which promotes water resources management, reduces environmental risks, It increases economic effectiveness by identifying the dams’ optimal locations to benefit from the data collected, Through satellites or drones to study aquifer terrain and analyze important geographical and environmental factors, such as soil, water sources, and natural risks to improve water sources management.
