The Biological Research Unit for the Tropical Regions in cooperation with the Development and Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, University of Baghdad, organized a lecture entitled “Steps to Extract and Purify the Enzyme” under the patronage of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Raed Faleh Hassan, and attended several students, research teachers, working in biological laboratories.
The objective of the lecture was to identify the main steps to extract and purify the enzyme by identifying the source of extraction of the enzyme, whether it is a natal, animal, or microbial biology, and how it invests in the production of microbial enzymes at the commercial level for its importance in the various pharmaceutical, food and industrial industries.
The lecture presented by Dr. Rafel Ismail Ali identified methods of breaking down and homogenizing the enzyme with the addition of special volumes (Buffers) for each enzyme via centrifuge to dispose of sediment, deposition, and purification using chromatography methods, With an explanation of purification methods which includes an ion exchange that separates the enzyme based on the charge and the gel for pure enzyme with an estimate of enzymatic effectiveness.
