The Department of Biotechnology, in cooperation with the Development and Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, University of Baghdad, held a lecture entitled “Information Technology and its Necessity in the Development of Biological Research” under the patronage of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Raed Falih Hassan, and attended several students, academic teachers and who interested in biology.

The purpose of the lecture was to highlight bioinformatics technologies and the sequence necessary for the development of biological research and the improvement of health care that would allow their complementarity to analyse intensive genomic and protein data, thereby facilitating breakthroughs in personal medicine, disease diagnosis, drug discovery, and agriculture.

The lecture presented by Dr. Hala Kamal Mohsen included discussing information technologies in strengthening capacities to address complex biological questions and develop targeted treatments, describing that collaboration between bioinformatics and sequencing will drive future discoveries in biotechnology, leading to more effective solutions to health and environmental challenges, reviewing the concept of biotechnology that relates to the adoption and application of biological principles and technologies in multiple areas such as industry, agriculture, and medicine, as well as the study genomic, cells and microorganisms.
