The Biological Research Unit for the Tropical Regions in cooperation with the Development and Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, University of Baghdad, organized a workshop entitled “Insulin Resistance; Causes, Presentation and Treatment” under the auspices of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Raed Faleh Hassan and the attendance of several students, academic teachers and medical professionals.
The workshop aimed to find out what the patients are suffering from, especially those with insulin resistance from the accumulation of insulin, which makes the hormone less effective, resulting in the need to produce more insulin to stimulate fat and muscle cells by absorbing glucose from the blood and stimulating the liver.
The workshop was lectured by Rajaa Ali Hussein and Noor Alhuda Khalaf to provide a detailed explanation for understanding the meaning of insulin resistance within the body and after eating; What the causes of high levels of blood sugar and the measurement of insulin production. The mission of insulin, which facilitates drunkenness across cells and its use of immediate energy or storage for subsequent use, noting that insulin directs sugar to the muscles of the energy and the fat cells for storage, or in cases of insulin resistance, cells in the organs and fatty tissue do not respond to insulin actively causing high levels of blood sugar.
