The Biological Research Unit for the Tropical Regions in cooperation with the Development and Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, University of Baghdad, organized the workshop tagged “Extracting the Enzyme from Bacteria” under the auspices of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Raed Faleh Hassan, and the attendance of several students, academic teachers and who interested in medicine and biology.

The workshop aimed to introduce the enzyme, its workflow and classification into six types, depending on its work, its designation, the methods of extraction from plant and animal sources of its industrial and commercial importance and purification methods, ranging from sedimentation of salts such as ammonium sulfate with dialysis or deposition of organic solvents such as acetone and ethanol.

The workshop presented by Dr. Rafel Ismail Ali and Merfat Abdul Hassan to review the sources of isolation of the enzyme and its dependence on its isolated microbial source, shown either to be an external enzyme subtracted to the implant medium or to be an internal enzyme that needs to use solvents and then use ultrasonic waves referring to the steps of extracting the enzyme from the bacteria via centrifuge then depositing with ammonium salts and followed by dialysis, revealing the purification using the ion exchanger and the gel exchanger and then storing the enzyme cryogenically as a final step.
