The Department of Life Sciences, College of Science, University of Baghdad, organized a lecture entitled “Effects of Isotretinoin on the Embryonic Development of Human Beings” under the auspices of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Raed Faleh Hassan, and attended several students, and those involved in medical and genetic engineering.

The purpose of the lecture was to familiarize with isotretinoin, a chemical derivative of vitamin A, its multiple uses and its treatment of difficult cases of pimples or harsh acne that do not respond to other treatments, as well as its effects on the genetic development of humans.

The lecture presented by Dr. Lamia Abdelreza Fadil addressed how isotretinoin works by reducing the production of natural leather oils and keratin protein (Keratin) that is produced in the outer layers of the skin, and the serious side effects that isotretinoin can cause: neonatal abnormalities, serious abortions and deformities in the foetus to which it is exposed, as well as serious problems affecting mental health.
