The Department of Astronomy and Space, in cooperation with the Development and Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, University of Baghdad, organized a scientific symposium entitled “Scientific Analysis Programs, Using Python Model” under the auspices of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Raed Falih Hassan, under the supervision of the Head of Department Assistant Professor Dr. Abdullah Kamel and the attendance of postgraduate students, academics and those interested in computer software, astronomy, space and physics.

The objective of the symposium was to publicize the importance of scientific analysis programmes in facilitating scientific research and supporting data-based decision-making by focusing on Python’s programming language as a practical example, explaining the need for Python and other programming languages in modern astronomy sciences, and provides examples of the use of Python in astronomical data analysis.

The seminar, lectured by Professor Ahmed Abd al-Razak and Associate Professor Yasser Ezzedine Rashid, provided an introduction to scientific analysis and its definition and relevance in academic and industrial fields and why we use Python as an open-source and easy-to-learn language, emphasizing the role of Python in enhancing collaboration for easy sharing of codes and results between researchers and possible integration with other platforms and software.
