The Postgraduate Students’ Affairs Division, in cooperation with the Development and Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, University of Baghdad, organized a lecture entitled “Challenges of water resources and environmental pollution affecting sustainable development solutions in Iraq”, sponsored by the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Raed Falih Hassan, and attended several postgraduates, academics and research students concerned with sustainable development.
The lecture aimed to raise awareness to address the water scarcity crisis in Iraq, which requires concerted national efforts and enhanced cooperation between the various ministries and institutions, as well as to implement sustainable solutions to control water quality and effectively address pollution. Environmental awareness is a key pillar for enhancing society’s awareness of the importance and challenges of water resources.
The lecture was presented by Dr. Alia Abdelaziz and Dr. Hiba Khalil Tawfik discussed the environmental and water challenges, highlighting sustainable solutions to address the water scarcity and water pollution crisis by providing a comprehensive vision on the importance of environmental awareness in addressing these challenges and their implications for society and the environment, reduce negative practices that exacerbate the crisis by providing practical examples of previous awareness campaigns.
