The Department of Biology, in cooperation with the Development and Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, University of Baghdad, held a lecture entitled “Combating Environmentally Friendly Pests” under the auspices of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Raed Falih Hassan, and attendance of postgraduates, academics, and environmental specialists.

The lecture aimed to raise awareness of biological control, which is a natural environmentally friendly product such as biopesticides and microbes and is described as biopesticides, microorganisms, pheromones, and natural substances such as vegetable oils, while microbes include invertebrates, “biocontrol agents”- insects and predatory mites.

Dr. Duha Zaki lecture highlighted biological control that works to combat pests without harming ecosystems, indicating that they evolve according to biological controls with surrounding nature, noting that they manage pests without compromising biodiversity and without harming beneficial organisms, including insects such as ladybirds, mites and pollinators such as bees, stressing that another important advantage of environmentally friendly biological controls.
