The Department of Biology, in cooperation with the Development and Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, University of Baghdad, organized a workshop entitled “Plant Tissue Cultivation for Medicinal Plants” under the auspices of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Raed Falih Hassan, and attended many students, academics and medical professionals.
The workshop aimed to introduce the technique of textile cultivation of medical and therapeutic plants how secondary metabolic compounds contribute as a bacterial antibiotic and its main role in the production of genetically modified and disease-resistant plants medical and aromatic substances by taking texture from any part of the plant or Callus and growing it in special settings and supervising it in the plant tissue cultivation laboratory.
The workshop presented by Prof. Ibrahim Jaber and Dr. Hala Hassan, Assistant Professor Ali Muid, and Samer Mustafa, described the importance of medicinal plants and their health and therapeutic benefits and reviewed how medicinal plants can be used safely and effectively to promote health and disease prevention.
