The Department of Computer Science, in cooperation with the Development and Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, University of Baghdad, held a workshop entitled “The Role of Cybersecurity in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals” under the auspices of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Raed Faleh Hassan, and attended several cybersecurity specialists.

The scientific workshop aimed to clarify one of the topics related to cybersecurity and its diversity statement, the general characteristics of this term as well as the relationship between cybersecurity and its role in achieving each of the seventeen sustainable development goals with the growing need for methods that ensures the avoidance of cyberattacks and diversity of communications.

The workshop presented by Associate Professor Dr. Zeina Moeen Mohammed, clarified the meaning, types, and characteristics of cybersecurity and its relationship to sustainable development goals, and the importance of cybersecurity in achieving sustainable development, as cybersecurity is essential for the protection of digital infrastructure. Citing the role of cybersecurity in protecting vital data and reducing economic losses resulting from cyberattacks. Stressing that cyber challenges do not stand at local borders, they are global challenges that require international cooperation to achieve a safe digital environment for all.
