To be a pioneering program with a distinguished scientific standing in the field of earth sciences and to contribute effectively to achieving sustainable development in Aswan Governorate and the South Upper Egypt region.

Preparing distinguished geological graduates armed with knowledge, concepts, and practical and general skills in the field of earth sciences, with a high level of competence, able to compete, and with a desire to participate in community development and environmental protection at the local and regional levels. The program qualifies students who wish to work specialized in earth sciences, whether in the field. Academic or applied, and also to meet the needs of the local labor market

Department objectives

 Preparing a specialized cadre who is familiar with the basics of earth science and its applications and is able to explore natural resources and wealth and evaluate their reserves.

 Teaching earth sciences to students of the department and other departments in the colleges of science and some other colleges of the university.

 Preparing scientifically specialized cadres qualified to advance the scientific and industrial movement in the country through postgraduate studies.

 Active participation in conducting scientific research to preserve the environment, reduce pollution in it, and rationally use oil, mineral and water resources.

 Contributing to solving scientific and industrial problems that contribute to serving the development plan in the country

 Providing consulting services to the public and private sectors in geological fields of specialization

 Developing the capabilities and competencies of members of departments working in the fields of earth sciences through the establishment of continuing education courses and other specialized courses.

 Contributing to the transfer of modern technologies applied in developed countries of the world to the country
