Meteorological Laboratory

The station was inaugurated in 2022 to keep up with scientific advancements, especially in the field of climate change. It serves as a training station for weather data measurement devices. The station is equipped with a set of essential instruments and equipment for collecting meteorological data. Its goal is to train students in the skills of taking measurements, as well as storing data regularly in special records for use in various scientific research. The station measures temperature, atmospheric pressure, rainfall, wind speed and direction, relative humidity, and air purity. Additionally, the station collects dust storm samples and conducts various laboratory analyses on them.

Rock and Mineral Laboratory

The Rock and Mineral Laboratory is one of the core laboratories in the Department of Earth Sciences. It serves as a vital resource for a range of courses across all academic levels, including courses in crystallography, mineralogy, microscopy of minerals, petrology, igneous rocks, and metamorphic rocks, as well as postgraduate courses specifically focused on rocks and minerals.

The laboratory is equipped with a variety of microscopes, sourced from different manufacturers and global brands, used by both undergraduate and graduate students, as well as researchers from various universities. Additionally, the lab houses samples of dust storm records that are utilized in scientific research. The laboratory also contains a diverse collection of rock and mineral samples from different regions of Iraq.
