Training Courses Organized by the Unit

The Biological Research Unit for Tropical Regions conducts specialized scientific training courses in basic pathological analyses for bachelor’s degree holders from related scientific departments. The course curriculum includes theoretical and practical lectures in laboratory analyses (pathogenic bacteria, pathogenic parasites, immunology, biochemistry, and hematology) over six weeks for each course. Upon completion, participants receive an accredited academic certificate from the University of Baghdad. Approximately 970 students have graduated from 46 courses.

Establishment of the Pathological Analysis Laboratory

The Pathological Analysis Laboratory was established and inaugurated in April 2004 to provide services to university employees at reduced rates.

Supervision of Postgraduate Students

Several faculty members from the unit teach and supervise postgraduate students (Master’s and Ph.D.) from the College of Science, other scientific colleges at the University of Baghdad, and equivalent colleges in other universities. Additionally, many students are hosted to complete their research in the unit’s laboratories.

Plans to Establish Postgraduate Programs

Plans are underway to introduce postgraduate studies (Higher Diploma and Master’s) specializing in the environmental diseases of tropical regions. The proposal has been referred to the specialized committee to assess the fulfillment of the necessary conditions for its establishment.
