The Lab of Seismology and Spatial Data Analysis, housed within the University of Baghdad – College of Science, is a leading research facility specializing in geophysical and spatial data analysis.

Key highlights of our expertise include:

  • Operating the Mesopotamia Seismic Monitoring Network (MPSN), comprising 13 advanced seismic monitoring stations strategically distributed across Iraq.
  • Extensive experience in various geophysical surveys, including gravitational, electrical, magnetic, and electromagnetic techniques.
  • Advanced skills in processing and interpreting two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) seismic surveys.
  • Active collaborations with renowned global institutions such as the University of Arkansas and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (USA), as well as partnerships with international companies.
  • Expertise in developing seismic codes and earthquake monitoring frameworks to protect critical infrastructure such as dams and engineering projects from potential hazards.
  • Proficiency in supervising modern geophysical surveys, including passive seismic and 4D seismic monitoring.
  • Spatial data analysis capabilities, leveraging satellite imagery and aerial drone surveys for advanced mapping and monitoring.
