The Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit is one of the important and active units affiliated with the Office of the Associate Dean for Scientific Affairs at the College of Science – University of Baghdad. It is dedicated to providing psychological and educational support to students and assisting them in overcoming psychological, social, and academic challenges that may affect their academic performance or university adjustment.

The unit works to reinforce principles of positive university behavior, promote mental health, and provide individual and group counseling. It also organizes workshops and awareness programs aimed at developing students’ psychological and educational capacities.

Unit Tasks:

  • Provide psychological and educational counseling to students and help them overcome personal and academic difficulties.

  • Follow up on special cases that require psychological care or social support.

  • Organize workshops and awareness programs in areas such as stress management, self-confidence, communication skills, and university life adaptation.

  • Promote a safe and supportive university environment through cooperation with academic departments and faculty members.

  • Document cases and consultations with strict confidentiality and prepare periodic reports on the unit’s activities.

  • Participate in advisory committees within academic departments and provide necessary recommendations.

Unit Objectives:

  • Support the mental and educational well-being of college students and improve their overall university experience.

  • Reduce instances of campus violence, negative behaviors, and academic dropout.

  • Contribute to building well-balanced student personalities capable of positive interaction with society.
