The President of the University of Baghdad chairs a meeting with the editorial board of the Iraqi Journal of Physics, aiming to elevate its status to international indexation.
The president of the university of Baghdad, professor Muneer Hamid Al-Saadi, chaired an extensive meeting that included the Dean of the college of science, Assistant Professor Raed Falih Hassan, the Director of the Quality Assurance Division, Assistant Professor Omar Falih Hassan, and the editorial board of the Iraqi Journal of Physics, issued by the department of Physics in the college of science.
The president of the university presented important proposals to enhance the status of the Iraqi Journal of Physics as the second refereed scientific journal in the college of science. The aim is to have the journal indexed in international databases such as Scopus and Clarivate, as well as encouraging researchers from different countries, universities, and research centers to publish in.
Professor Muneer Hamid Al-Saadi emphasized the importance of scientific rigor in the research submitted to journals and the need to establish mechanisms that would enable the university and its educational institutions to be included in international university rankings. He pointed out that adhering to international standards in this regard would have a clear impact on the development of the prestigious university of Baghdad compared to its counterparts, propelling it towards advanced positions in these rankings. This qualification would enable the university to compete internationally, which can be achieved through the application of academic quality standards. He called upon researchers to not only publish their work in international journals but also to focus on increasing the number of times their scientific papers are cited by other researchers.
The Iraqi Journal of Physics is an open-access scientific journal that focuses on publishing genuine papers in the physical sciences in both applied and theoretical fields. It is published by the department of physics in the college of science and has ISSN (DOI: 10.30723/ijp).
