The Department of Biology, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, University of Baghdad, organized a lecture entitled “The Epidemic Reality of Some Parasitic Diseases in Iraq”. The lecture aimed to raise awareness in the community about the importance of some parasites widespread in Iraq by providing them with scientific developments in their specialty, which leads to improving the level of medical services provided to patients. The lecture presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Harith Saeed Jaafar Al-Ward included and shedding light on medical parasites, clarifying their relationship with humans, and reviewing the most prevalent parasitic diseases in Iraq, in addition to explaining how parasitic diseases are diagnosed, and shedding light on the different methods of transmission of infection, as well as the types of treatments, whether Chemical or natural, and prevention methods to limit the spread of parasitic infections. The lecture recommended the necessity of seeking medical assistance if a person suspects any parasitic infection and the importance of staying away from contaminated and undercooked food to avoid disease and protect against infection.
