In the College of Science Department of Biology at the University of Baghdad a doctoral dissertation entitled “Inspecting the antibacterial efficacy of nanoparticles produced by algae ” by Murooj Ayad Abdulmajeed was discussed, Under the supervision of Professor Dr. Ither Kamil Al-Mayaly The research aimed to investigate the possibility of preparing nanomaterials from extracts of various types of algae and testing their effectiveness against two types of pathogenic bacteria. Additionally, the research aimed to reveal the gene expression of bacteria most affected by the nanomaterials that were prepared. The conclusions of the thesis demonstrated a high potential for manufacturing nanomaterials from the types of algae used in the study. Furthermore, these materials showed a clear impact against both negative and positive gram-staining pathogenic bacteria. Additionally, these materials exhibited the ability to alter the gene expression of bacteria most affected by the nanomaterials by regulating two selected and identified genes.
