Chemical Compatibility and Stratigraphic Damage in Oil Fields
The Department of Geology, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, University of Baghdad, organized a lecture titled “Chemical Compatibility and Stratigraphic Damage in Oil Fields.” The lecture, presented by both Prof. Dr. Saleh Mohammed Awad and Dr. Heba Saadoun Al-Maammar, aimed to introduce the concept of stratigraphic damage, which is considered one of the reasons for the decline in oil production in oil fields. The lecture covered an overview of the factors resulting from the liberation of certain clay minerals that obstruct pores, leading to decreased permeability, and also delved into organic reasons associated with the components of the crude oil itself.
