Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, University of Baghdad, organized the training workshop entitled “Renewable Energy for Sustainable Development”.

The workshop presented by Dr. Shorouk Badri Salman aimed to teach the fundamentals of renewable energy, including its concepts, types, and the current status of renewable energy in Iraq. It also focused on the role of sustainable agriculture and to explore the strengths and weaknesses through completed research in this field, particularly at Baghdad University.

The workshop included a review of a study conducted on the waste management situation at Baghdad University and the potential for achieving sustainable development. It also featured an educational presentation on the beginnings of renewable energy adoption and sustainable development achievements. Additionally, research projects on energy from all disciplines within the College of Science were presented, emphasizing the implementation of sustainable development goals. These goals include providing energy that, when applied, can achieve many economic, social, and environmental objectives.
