An Awareness Lecture to Highlight the Active Role of Women in Society
The Library Division, in cooperation with the Development and Continuing Education and Women’s Affairs Units at the College of Science, University of Baghdad, held an awareness-raising lecture entitled “The Role of Women in Contemporary Society”, under the auspices of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Raed Faleh Hassan, and attended several academic teachers interested in social affairs.
The objective of the lecture was to enhance the social role of women through the advancement of society, overcome the difficulties encountered, and participate actively in decision-making positions through the introduction of solutions, the most important of which is to contribute to local and international civil society organizations working to provide training opportunities and capacity-building programmes that contribute to women’s organizations and participate actively in legislative and executive decision-making positions and their active role in society.
The lecture presented by Rowa Abdul Sattar highlights most women’s challenges of participation in the social, economic, and political fields, it concluded with a series of recommendations calling for the enactment of laws and legislation guaranteeing women’s rights to equitable representation in the administration of state institutions and emphasizing the active role of the media in focusing on the positive image of the Iraqi women and demonstrating their diverse capabilities in the areas of leadership, decision-making.
