The Department of Mathematics, in cooperation with the Development and Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, University of Baghdad, held a symposium entitled “Developing Environmental Values and Adopting Positive Behaviours Towards the Environment” under the auspices of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Raed Falih Hassan, and attended several postgraduate students and academics concerned with sustainable development.

The objective of the symposium was to focus on the concept of environmental development and its components and environmental citizenship, ethics, principles and outputs of environmental development and to present practical applications of ethical obligations, as well as to provide participants with the knowledge and skills needed to understand and address these pressing issues.

The seminar lectured by Professor Ala ‘a Abbas Aliwi, Dr. Mohammed Alaa Abdul Amir, Dr. Defaf Rissan Faisal and Suaad Naji Kazim, reviewed how environmental values contribute to the establishment of positive attitudes towards the environment, providing them with comprehensive knowledge about ecosystems, cause-effect relationships, understanding of the energy flow system and its effects on the human population, as well as development of environmental problem-solving skills.
