The Department of Biotechnology, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit and the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at the College of Science, University of Baghdad, organized a workshop titled “Cybersecurity: Data Protection in the Age of Modern Technology.” The event was held under the patronage of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Raed Faleh Hassan, and supervised by the Head of the Department, Professor Dr. Nazem Hassan Haider

The workshop, presented lecture by Brigadier Dr. Hassan Hadi aimed to introduce cybersecurity, types of cyber threats, and the importance of protecting personal and institutional information. It also highlighted the role of data protection in the modern technological era, addressing the challenges and opportunities faced by individuals and businesses amid rapid technological advancements. The workshop sought to discuss effective strategies for safeguarding sensitive data and information.

The workshop covered the importance of cybersecurity and methods for protecting individuals and their privacy from cyber breaches, emphasizing that people are constantly at risk of hacking attempts, especially with rapid technological advancements and the increasing use of digital activities. During the lecture, real-life cases were presented to the audience to illustrate hacking techniques and their dangers to personal information. Participants were also warned about suspicious links, and practical advice was provided on safeguarding personal data, particularly regarding social media accounts and financial transaction cards.
