Immunity and metabolism are central physiological processes required to support health and are controlled by multiple proteins. This thesis, entitled “Role of cytokine-inducible Src homology domain 2-containing protein in myelopoiesis and metabolic regulation” investigated one of these proteins called CISH. CISH is a member of the suppressor of cytokine signaling proteins (SOCS) family. The analysis of a Cish knockout mouse model revealed that the loss of CISH caused altered cytokine responses in white blood cells and enhanced appetite suppression by the cytokine leptin.
