Engineering cancer cells and their use in anti-cancer drug experiments
3D-dimensional culture system is a vital and ideal tool for drug trials of cancer cells and the mechanistic study of programmed cell death (apoptosis). The ability of this technology to create conditions similar to the growth of tumors in vivo is its hallmark, which It includes increasing the extracellular acidity (Lactic acid) and reducing the availability of glucose and oxygen, by engineering cancer cells in the form of three-dimensional layers and creating the conditions for cell culture in a spherical shape. It allows analysis of the response of cancer cells to chemotherapy or biological treatments, and the response to treatment varies according to the concentration of the drug used.
