The administration of the International Astronomical Union has accepted nineteen Iraqi researchers and teaching staff to the membership of the International Astronomical Union. Most of them are from the department of Astronomy and Space at the College of Science, the University of Baghdad, so Iraq scored a foothold in this World Astronomical Union and positively returned to its reputation in international forums.
