In cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, the University of Baghdad, the biology department held a lecture entitled “The Physiological Importance of Sleep” in the presence of several students, instructors and those concerned with physiological disciplines.

The lecture aims to familiarize the attendees with the physiological need of a person who needs sleep, such as his need for food and drink. The disadvantages of not enjoying a quiet and deep sleep affect the body and the dire consequences. Essentially, the human body is built on two biological systems that regulate the time of sleep and wake up, and determine the required time for the human body from sleep. The lecture also presented the circadian clock system responsible for ensuring the periodic and regular functioning of biological functions in the human body, such as sleeping, waking, and others daily.
