The College of Science organizes a workshop to enhance the skillful handling of dust samples collected from Iraq’s fields
The Department of Geology, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science of the University of Baghdad, organized a workshop entitled “Basis and Skills for Dealing with Dust Storm Samples” in the presence of the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Abdul-Karim Al-Qazzaz, Head of Geology Science department, and number of students, researchers and guests concerned with remote sensing, geography and the environment
The workshop, which was presented by lecturer Dr. Hassan Katouf, aimed to discuss the climate change subject, which is one of the very important topics as it affects the future of countries and peoples and Iraq, which was classified as one of the countries negatively affected by these changes, which was reflected in several things, including the spread of the desertification phenomenon and its increase ,and decrease in the area of agricultural land, as well as a decrease in water imports and precipitation, and an increase in the frequency and occurrence of dust storms.

In the College of science, University of Baghdad, a master’s thesis was discussed, tagged “Biostratigraphy and Depositional Environmental of Yamama Formation in Faihaa Oil Field Southern Iraq” by the research student Maryam Mohammad Taha and presented to the Geology Department under the supervision by Dr. Salam I.
