Two lecturers in the College of Science obtain a patent by preparing high-efficiency polymers as anti-corrosion coatings
The two lecturers in the Department of Chemistry, College of Science, University of Baghdad, Dr. Rawa Abbas Muhammad and Prof. Dr. Kholoud Abd Saleh, obtained the patent entitled ” Preparation of conductive polymers and nanocomposites from amic acid derivatives grafted with graphene oxide and zinc oxide nanoparticles on the surface of carbon steel in a saline medium as anti-corrosion and anti-bacterial coatings” after completing its requirements from the standardization and quality control device.
The patent aimed to highlight corrosion, which is of great importance to researchers around the world, due to its catastrophic impact on both the economy and people’s safety. New strategies based on new materials to reduce corrosion were used, describing nanocomposites based on conductive polymers. It is a type of materials that have shown promising results for corrosion protection.
