Abstract

With the increased use of smartphones and the availability of mobile internet technology, SMS phishing has become more common. SMS permits cybercriminals to reach mobile end users in new ways and attempt to deliver phishing messages, mobile malware, and online scams masquerading as well-known brands. Distinguishing between phishing SMS and legitimate SMS is difficult due to the unstructured nature of SMS and the non-linearity in the interpretation of SMS. The attractiveness of Uniform Resource Locator (URL) content causes the user to click on suspicious URLs. Therefore, detecting and preventing such malicious URL attacks is still challenging..
